Basic Plot: During his lethal injection, a convicted murderer is rescued and enlisted in a program designed by a scientific organization that allows individuals to tap into the memories of their deceased ancestors and reenact various points of their lives using a machine called the Animus.  As he uncovers more memories, both of his ancestor and of his own childhood, he begins to question the real motives behind the organization.

Rating (Out of 4): 1

Pros: The “1” rating is entirely due to some genuinely well constructed action sequences involving the parkour sequences that the videogames were famous for, as well as some good hand-to-hand and weapons-based combat scenes.

Cons: An unnecessarily complicated plot drags this movie down within the first ten minutes.  Just like in its videogame source material, every time Fassbender’s character leaves the Animus, the plot grinds to a halt.  Given that fact, there needs to be a whole lot more time spent in the Animus, and a whole lot less time spent in the various laboratories within the organization.
