Rating (Out of 4): 3
Pros: A great feel for the 1940s setting, with set design and costumes that make the era come alive. Chris Evans is wonderful in both aspects of the role, playing a convincing pushover with as much heart as when he dons the red, white, and blue costume of the movie’s hero. The normally throw-away role of the hero’s love interest is instead a great character all her own, with a witty and strong performance by Hayley Atwell. And, of course, the always reliable Tommy Lee Jones picks just the right tone for the gruff and grumpy Colonel Phillips.
Cons: Perhaps a little too simplistic for some, and the character of the Red Skull is pretty cardboard when it comes to depth or dimension.
