Music By: Henry Mancini
Starring: Barrie Ingham (as the voice of Basil), Val Bettin (as the voice of Major Dr. David Q. Dawson), Susanne Pollatschek (as the voice of Olivia Flaversham), Vincent Price (as the voice of Professor Ratigan), Candy Candido (as the voice of Fidget), and Alan Young (as the voice of Hiram Flaversham)
Basic Plot: A mouse living under the home of famous English detective Sherlock Holmes fancies himself as the rodent counterpart, and begins investigating the case of a kidnapped toymaker. All signs point to the involvement of criminal mastermind Professor Ratigan, a rat who fancies himself to be a mouse due to people’s (and, apparently, other animals’) generally unsavory view of rats.
Rating (Out of 4): 3
Pros: Great voicework by all involved, although special mention must be made of Vincent Price and Susanne Pollatschek. An exciting storyline and memorable characters. At only 74 minutes, a fairly brisk movie.
Cons: Some slow parts that tend to make it feel a bit longer than its 74 minute runtime.
