Basic Plot: A young woman surfing on an isolated beach finds herself the victim of a great white shark attack, and struggles to survive while trapped on a rock in the middle of the water as the shark continues to circle around her.
Rating (Out of 4): 3
Pros: A great sense of tension developed by the decision (particularly early on) to not show the shark too much. The CGI shark is perhaps the most realistic shark to appear in a movie. Blake Lively does a very good job in what is, essentially, a single character movie.
Cons: The more the movie shows the shark, the easier it is to spot that it’s fake. Needless melodramatic backstory that only serves to give the main character “depth”.
