Rating (Out of 4): 3
Pros: A show stopping performance by Gene Wilder as the titular Mr. Wonka. Great production design. Some very memorable musical numbers. Good performances by the child actors. A warmly twisted sense of humor throughout the movie.
Cons: It takes a while to get things going, and by the time “Cheer up, Charlie” has successfully killed any momentum the movie may have generated, many kids will have probably lost interest.
